Friday afternoon galleries into an evening out.

We ran into a surprise Diane Arbus retrospective over at David Zwirner over on Western. Seeing a lot of her work together like that helped solidify my feelings about her work — the subject is seen clearly, but the viewer remains apart. She was always looking at something human she couldn’t quite reach.

They were installing a new show over at Southern Guild, but they were happy to let us hang out anyway, which was lovely.

I realized that the vibe of LA Is hard for me to capture in landscape photos, so I’ll plan to stick to the details.
