Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Ordering & restocks
Do you release work in collections or keep inventory in stock year-round?
Most of my work is released in small seasonal drops. Occasionally, I’ll have a few pieces available between collections — you can check the shop to see what’s currently live.
How often do you release new work?
Two to four times a year, usually once per season. I try to keep things paced and intentional.
If something is sold out, will you make it again?
Not usually. Most pieces are made in limited runs or one-offs — part of the beauty is their unrepeatability.
Do you take pre-orders or reserves?
Not at the moment. I might someday, but for now, everything is first-come, first-served.
Shipping
Where do you ship from?
California.
Do you ship internationally?
Not yet — just within the U.S. for now. Maybe someday.
How long does it take for orders to ship?
I typically ship within 1–2 weeks after purchase. Orders from drops will usually go out the week following the sale.
What shipping carriers do you use?
Mostly USPS. If your package is particularly large or heavy, I may use UPS.
Will I get tracking info?
Yes, you’ll get a tracking number and shipping notification if you order directly from my online shop. Again, shipping usually takes 1-2 weeks.
How does shipping work?
Shipping is U.S.-only. I charge a flat $10 for the first item and $2 for each additional item. I pack and ship everything myself with care, usually the week after the sale, so you can expect to receive your order about 2–3 weeks after purchase.
Returns & breakage
What’s your return or exchange policy?
If your order arrives damaged, send me photos right away and I’ll refund you. Outside of that, I’m not currently offering returns or exchanges — I appreciate your understanding.
What happens if something arrives damaged?
See above. Just email me the pictures, and I’ll take care of it. I can’t remake one-of-a-kind items, but I can refund you.
Materials & care
What materials do you use?
I work almost exclusively with stoneware and food-safe glazes. Most pieces are fired to cone 10, which vitrifies the clay — even the raw, unglazed surfaces become water-tight and virtually food safe. If it’s not food safe, I will mark it as such.
Are your pieces food/dishwasher/microwave safe?
Yes! That said, I still recommend hand-washing, especially for oddly shaped or larger pieces. Dishwashers can be rough, and hand-washing will help your ceramics live a longer, less perilous life.
Any special care tips?
Handle with care, wash by hand when you can, and avoid stacking things too tightly in cabinets or dishwashers. Basically: love them like they were made by a human, not a machine (because they were).
Customs & commissions
Do you take custom orders?
On occasion — custom work requires a lot of R&D and is often cost-prohibitive. But if you’ve got something special in mind and don’t mind those realities, feel free to reach out at studio@summerromasco.com.
Are you open to collaborations?
Absolutely. If you have an idea or proposal, send it my way: studio@summerromasco.com
Packaging
What kind of packaging do you use? Is it sustainable?
Everything I use is recyclable and/or biodegradable — including the packing peanuts. I try to keep waste minimal while still protecting your piece in transit.
Boundaries & response time
Do you have studio hours or certain days when you don’t respond to emails?
I’ll usually respond within a week — sometimes longer if I’m on vacation or deep in the studio. Thanks for your patience and for respecting the rhythm of a handmade life.
