Shino stoneware vases and cups — pieces from a limited collection I've been working on. Same kiln. Same glaze. The vases trapped carbon into the surface — mossy green with bands of peach where the atmosphere shifted at the shoulder. Th
These warm Shino cups sit in a different position than yesterday's green. These are lighter atmosphere, less soot, more flux. The iron in the glaze shifted warm instead. The range is both surprising and more of the same. Sage. Peach. Deep caramel.
Shino glaze with carbon trapping in the morning light. The green isn't a pigment — it's trapped carbon. Glaze chemistry is infinitely trying and delightful. The glaze has a high amount of soda ash, which migrates to the surface as the piec
Been working through new shapes. I’ve always leaned toward angles—earlier on, that showed up more in the glaze. Dipped at a tilt, a line cutting through the surface. Lately I’m more interested in building that into the form, a

Another rusty dynamic glaze. This stoneware pedestal bowl sits low and wide, balanced on a narrow foot. The surface catches a brown-to-cream, matte. Fired in reduction it has lots of glaze variance and detail. Solid but open, it’s a piece made
